Power Valve Selection
So other issues popped up in the mean time while I was working on this. The strut rods bushings went out. While waiting for parts and eventually getting the time to replace them I started to reflect on issues that came up with this car while trying to get it on the road. I always remembered the intake being a pain in the *** to align and get torqued down. It also always smoked terribly on cold start, regardless of temperature outside. It lead me to believe I may have a vacuum leak at the intake and if I do, no matter what I do to the carb it would never run right if the carb is not getting the proper vacuum signal.
Well I got a smoke machine and confirmed I do. I am in the process of diving into that issue in
This Thread. So currently the intake is off and awaiting next steps from the machine shop on what I can do to address this situation. But since it is off I figured I might as well check to see where the cam shaft is degreed at. When this engine was assembled the idea of degreeing a cam was a foreign concept, so seeing that the intake is already off and its only a couple more bolts to get to the areas I need to degree the cam, I figured why not.
This car needs to run right.
