How much oil 440?

Make sure that the extended oil pump pick up is installed in the engine properly. It should just touch the bottom of the pan when installed.
As for causing the system to lock up. You can have the oil pump installed in a 55 gallon drum of oil, but it will only flow the same amount of oil.
As far as ring seating, it will depend on the type of rings that are installed and the crosshatch pattern on the cylinder walls. Moly rings seat very quickly but do not last a long time. Chrome rings have a long service life but are much harder to seat and take more time.
A dumb question is the one that is never asked. When in doubt always check the Factory Service Manual or if the part is aftermaeket, go to the manufacturers website for guidance. Remember that it is your engine and your money at risk.
