273 or NOT 273?

Back when I raced pavement oval track, the chevy guys complained about my 360 so much, I contemplated building a 273, just to prove a point. But we had a minimum idle vacuum rule, and restricted to .420 valve lift. So the 273 just had zero chance. If they would have allowed me more cam, I feel certain I could have still won with the 273, but at 8k-85k plus rpm, rather than the 62-63 hundred I spun the 360
My cousin had the same problem with his 340, the Chev guy's cheat so much they thought my cousin had to be doing some crazy cheating, they tore him down all the time, and since they didn't know dodge they questioned every factory machine mark, and when they finally accepted he wasn't cheating they kept adding weight to him. People don't like others that don't follow the herd :)
