Camshaft/Engine Experts - Opinion Needed

Hi,
Short story - I was given ($0) a '73 350 Pontiac engine - bottom end only. I needed a few parts, valley pan, oil pan and dipstick tube. I stripped it down to make it easier to lift and realized it was very clean, showing little wear. I pulled the camshaft and its a 296AH8. My limited education is suggesting this is a special camshaft and my original thoughts of throwing it all away is waining. Don't ask me the history of the engine as I don't know and the guy who gave it to me didn't either (Dad had it and passed away). But I spun it freely by hand and as I said it appears to be very clean. My question is; Does this camshaft indicate there may be some value to sell it all vs. garbage it? I'm not looking to make a big buck but my sixth sense is telling me to get it to someone who can use it.
I'm asking on this site because I have found our FABO group is very good.
Thanks
Greg
