Do I need a deeper pan to shift above 6500rpm?

727 Torqueflite in high 9 second drag car reverse pattern manual valve body, slightly deeper than stock pan
I have shift light set at 6500rpm but datalog shows 1-2 shift actually happens around 7000-7200. Am I running out of fluid? Do I need a deeper pan?
