AFR SBM Heads, Just got back from PRI
Ya, I think they saw me coming. lol
It’s possible! On your post and what I said. The question was asked if they are ready to bolt on. The answer is yes.
Anything after that is just ether splitting hairs or they find something their machinist, themselves etc….. did t like or wanted to improve on.
The head itself as is (CNC version) is ready to go OOTB. Mine were. Someone else’s? Maybe not so much. Stripping and checking the head from anyone in any state from in the raw to fully prepared and ported should be checked for aluminum dust, chips, and etc…. AKA, every aspect of the head and its machining.
If your machinist found an issue somewhere that was intolerable to be used as is then that is ether him or the parent company.
My question is, did you blindly OK the work or did you ask to be shown the inadequacies? Why does a brand new valve need to be polished? IDK myself, so, what was wrong with it since it’s brand spankin new? Was the valve seats poorly prepped? Did you ask to see how straight edge on the heads deck? What’s wrong with the supplied valve seals?
While anyone hear, actual machinist, home engine builder or stupid *** nud-nick rubber head idiot can come up with a list.
I took MY OWN straight edge to the sea I and intake mating surfaces. I removed the locks retainers and spring to check the valve stem fitment and checked spring heights with my mic. I did everything I could. When I blew compressed air through it, I got NOTHING coming out except air.
