What is meant by….Trick ring face

“Stock is more restrictive. The piston has a set weight, stock ring groves and locations, stock valve relief, stock pin size, stock dome, stock compression height. Same rule as Super Stock on the rods. Stock appearing unwelded oil pan. Cam must be same type as original, with stock lift, any duration, any LSA, stock type and diameter lifter, but aftermarket materials (ie Schubeck) allowed. Any steel pushrod, stock rockers, any valve spring the same size and configuration as stock, steel retainers, any steel or stainless steel valve with stock dimensions. No porting and polishing, stock intake. Trick ring packs are the norm.

If you have 1/16" compression rings, back cut is the rule of the day, with trick ring faces.

If you have 5/64" rings, spacers and Dykes, metric or other trick rings are the thing. Stock intake, stock carb. Stock is sort of liberally interpreted in many cases”
