Mounting Front Speakers

On a 65 Valiant - I have a knee knocker AC hanging under radio which I thought was going to make the mission daunting. Went in thru glove box (remove), removed old stereo (not original), disconnected the two vent hoses - not the vents themselves, then the 2 nuts for trim where vent controls are (back side of dash), then behind the trim (front side of dash) - 2 metal screws to allow the vent controls to sag, then pull / slide speaker sideways and level after it drops from in tact bolts, towards passenger side and drop it down where glovebox normally goes. All work done from passenger side. It's a 15-30 min operation, say an hour round trip if you have everything ready to go.

Good time to lube up and check functionality (per your service manual of course :) under there w/ wipers and levers and such and perhaps update vent hoses if needed. Shop vac even maybe!

The adapter for the two 3.5" speakers is spot on perfect. Fabbed by Jerry Landes (here in Fabo group). Uses same original nuts going back in w/ the new speakers.

As far as tools, philips screwdriver for glovebox, mini hex ratchet (about 3-4 inch handle) and the small sae hex sockets. A bright magnetic work light is pretty helpful.
