Driveline.works Any opinions on them?

I know I am dragging up an old thread, but Driveline.Works / Joe Balbo was the worst parts vendor I have ever dealt with, and I want others to avoid my experience. I bought a A833 from him as rebuilt, that had a litany of issues.

If he was more responsive, things may have gone differently. I must have called a dozen times and sent twice as many emails over the two months I spent diagnosing the issue, and it usually took over a week to get a hold of him.

The transmission was first installed May 5th 2021. I emailed on the 11th asking for a response. I emailed on the 19th saying that I readjusted the shifter rods but was still having issues. I emailed again on the 20th, again on the 27th. I finally got a response on May 27th, but it was an automated message that he was going to be away until June 3rd on vacation. It was not until then - around 1 month after I first let him know about my problem - that I started to take matters into my own hands.

At the end of it, I found old / broken parts had been reused. He wanted me to crate it, send it back, then hemmed and hawed about how I had dug into it and I had voided the warranty, then said he would have to file a claim with the trucking company (because they broke the "fragile" syncro rings...). The attitude he conveyed was that this situation was everyone's fault but his own, and he was doing a favor to all those involved.

I understand the "voided warranty" aspect of it, but if you're going to to drag out the process of warrantying, eventually people cut bait and move on - which is the best case scenario for him.

I ultimately declined the opportunity to send it back on my dime and pay him to fix it, and instead learned to rebuild the transmission myself. It's worked great since. That is one thing I can thank him for.

Buy from a reputable vendor. I didn't buy on price, but Brewers was back ordered for almost a year when I needed the transmission. In hindsight, I would wait two years for Brewers before ordering a transmission from anywhere else.
