Good progress on the 56 Studebaker Power Hawk

In the past two weeks, we have made great progress on my friends 56 Studebaker Power Hawk. We got the decklid and the hood wet sanded and polished. And then we spent two whole days fighting the adjustment of the decklid. We tried everything. And finally today after fighting it for several more hours, I said, “let’s pull the decklid hinges off of your 56 Goldenhawk and try them.” The Golden Hawk is next in line for restoration. The hinges off of that worked perfectly. Looking at the hinges that didn’t work we see no reason at all for them not to work. This car is built like a tank. But it’s starting to come together.View attachment 1716341094View attachment 1716341095View attachment 1716341096View attachment 1716341097
One measure of how talented someone is in their craft is how easy they make it look. You, sir, do wonderful work.

I really like the lines on those old cars
Design is such a lost art. Everything from that era -- from kitchen appliances to automobiles to table saws -- was given just as much thought into design as functionality.
