A lot of times the aluminum bearing insert will transfer the soft bearing material to the crankshaft making it appear that it is gouged, when it actually is just piled up on the hard crankshaft surface.
Polish it back with some 320 wet dry and WD-40 until removed, then final polish the crank with Crocus Cloth.
Then see what you got when you clamp on the rod with plasti-gauge.
