My Fold Down Seat Trunk Pictures

Ok, I will start with some background. I worked in floor covering for over 40 years Mostly Wood Floors, and Stone / Ceramic. And made lots of custom rugs that needed Surged Edges But had a 10 year plus contract with Sears. Sears always needed display boxes and raised platform things covered. As well as a long-term working relationship Shipyard who would remove the floors to install engines and trans so needed new floors, and insides to match in Yachts, So, I was. also covering plenty crazy stuff for them. So, this was right up my alley.
Going over the wheelhouse was unlike cutting a V out at a cars hump and putting back together. I had to make a pattern and add material. As it was easier than heating the carpet and forming it slowing heat and cool until stretched.
You can see in picture #3 where I added carpet on. Glued on and used scrap carpet as a backer to make a seam with 3-M contact glue. In the old days carpet was sewed up with or without a backer tape and adhesive was added.

Note} On car floors at Transmisson tunnel. You make a cut and fold carpet over on itself and cut a V out. Then sew the 2 together from backside where you cut the V out at the transmission tunnel. I have done that too. You sew one way with a curved needle across to one side. And then turn around and go back the other way to make an X if you have a car that cannot find molded carpet for.

I also put the floor in two pieces and had the edges surged. It was done this way, so later I could add some amps for a sound system verses form fit. Figured it would be a great place to hide amplifiers under
it.
The fuel filler was blasted and was supposed to be a satin finish. And look like the trunk latch looks {like silver cad Wanta-Be} But after it was dropped at platers, they mistakenly polished it and is blingy now.
The Jack is from a super low mile slanty six car that was hit early in life and is not restored. I did put in new padding inside the jack cover. I have seen 2 kinds of covers the soft ones that are vinyl type and hard ABS? hard plastic like mine. Cars Build was 8-1973
