Wow, thanks for posting that. Do you have the dowel? I would install dowel in block and measure the stick out. If stickout is bigger I would deepen the hole(that's what she said).
Others more experienced will chime in. I'm hoping that's what it is as it seems like an easy fix?

dowels are in the block ... I will measure the hole depth to the ledge in the head and then measure the pin height sticking out of block. also I will lay the head on the block and see how it looks and feels . this is a different engine block now so I have the check the dowel pins
