So you are going to braze up a unibody car?
If so, don’t touch the rails and get a lot of practice with your bonding skills.

A cheap mig is going to pay for itself if you go in as deep as you are talking about and you will have it for your next project.
I would only touch the torch to the fenders to weld the inner fender to the quarter after clearancing for slicks. It's the only worthwhile welding method I have at my house. We have a flux core MIG, but I wouldn't use it for anything structural. If I got to welding to the actual chassis, I'm borrowing my buddy's TIG/Stick welding setup.

I don't like TIG welding since it's so hard to keep the torch where you want it. Gas welding is so much easier for small projects.
