727 Column Shift linkage installation tips?

727 trans? If so, are you sure you have the shift linkage for a 727? 904 linkage looks very similar, but the Z bar is longer, and the trans bracket (as I recall) is also different.

I actually ran the 904 linkage in my 67 after replacing the slant six/904 with a 360/727. I did get it to fit somehow, but occasionally on a full throttle in manual low, the movement of the trans would force an upshift before I wanted to shift. Finally figured out what was wrong and got the correct linkage.
