on your console I have a suggestion that someone passed to me here on FABO - attach the console carpet to the console using wide industrial velcro. You buy it by the foot, it sticks to the back of the carpet and the console - no muss, no fuss and when you need to get to stuff below the console you just pull it off and push it back on when you are done.
