Back about 40 years ago when I was a couple years in the mechanic field working at Kmart Auto I had the hood open on a late 70`s Ford truck. When I went to start it the battery blew up and soaked everything under hood and the mechanic next to me. Lucky it was on his back and not his face. The whole battery top was gone and the cables still hooked to the standing plates.
I was working at a shop my buddy owned and had run a skid steer in so I could compare it with the one I was working on, I was doing a complete overhaul on a similar model. The boss comes in and tries to start the one I had brought in but the battery was dead according to him. Well he hooked up the cables backwards with the charger on full power and then bang. The battery blew up so hard I was twenty feet away and felt the blast and was covered with the mist of battery acid. He ended up going to the hospital to get his eyes and face taken care of.
It’s funny back in 1980 I was working in a shop and there too the shop owner blew up a battery outside. Same thing face full of acid, I guess employees are smarter than the employers.
