If you can't get local help, I think your best bet right now is to follow the advice given on tracing out the schematic and start asking questions when you get stuck. Don't worry about if you think it's a stupid question or not. A few answers later and it'll unlock your ability to start understanding what you're troubleshooting and by the end of this thing, you'll get a good grasp on troubleshooting electrical problems. If someone is giving you advice and you don't understand it, just tell them and see if they will simplify it for you. Prerequisites are required for a lot of "car talk" and most 16 year olds just don't have them yet. Don't be afraid to admit that you have no idea what the hell it is that we are talking about lol

If you try and throw random parts at it and play the guessing game, you'll wind up wasting your money, time and frustrating the guys trying to help you. Plus you'll learn very little that way. Start asking away.
