1963 Valiant - Rear differential Help please

Well, so far so good....

The NOS carrier gears from AMS Obsolete fit like a glove! Thanks for the referral and thanks to AMS Obsolete!

I made a make shift case spreader for this case by purchasing a second Dana Case Spreader and using both adjustable sides (modifying one side by drilling additional bolt holes to the width of the case inset holes.

Interestingly (to me anyway) in 1963 the pinions did not employ a crush sleave for adjusting front pinion bearing load but rather simply used spacers. I'm not sure when the crush sleave style was introduced but the 2.93 ring and pinion set that I obtained from a fellow member here on the forum was a the newer style. No worries though, with sufficient torque I was able to crush the sleave and tighten the pinion nut so that it rotated with on the bearings at about 20 inch pounds. Here'a a picture of the difference between the two pinions (newer having the crush sleave of course).

The paint test on the ring and pinion gear teeth looks good so ready for final assembly. I have a bit of cleaning up and repainting to do in the wheel wells and need to redo the rear breaks but it shouldn't be too long before we know if this thing is going to make noises or not.

Thanks again for all your help!
