Finally get to pretend I am one of the cool kids - Holley kit swap
Got some more cuts and clearance, bought bolts I could actually get a wrench on for the bellhousing and got the T56 up in the car. Yes!!!
It even tucks up nice in the body. The bottom of the trans appears to be close to even with the bottom of the TB crossmember.
The shifter clears where the new crossmember will land, that was a concern of mine. Plus with the motor forward I think the lower crossmember will be easier and won't require the spacers that the ToddRon one appears to have.
Looks like the shifter is a little forward of where the stock shifter lands. Not sure if that is good or bad, but I expect to build my own pistol grip handle like I did for my '74 anyways so shouldn't be an issue.
The crossmember I saved from my R154 swap into a '63 Valiant even looks like it would work. Not going to use it, just laying it in there to see where to start.
But I see now that I should have knocked the spacer tube part out of what was left of the TB crossmember before I put it up in there. Now I have to hope to be able to drill out the spot welds and knock them out with the trans in the way, or drop the trans. Ugh.
