What's your favorite old school Japanese car?

I had/have a 1986 Toyota PU, 2 wdr, 4cyl, 5sp. 8 ft bed. Best all-round vehicle I ever owned (blastfamy, I know). I retired it from regular use just before "covid", with 414,000 miles on the odometer. Never had the head off the motor. Only major engine work was timing sets. 25 mpg empty, about 22 mpg in "normal" use, and 18 mpg towing my race car. Extreme use, I made a trip from Florida to Mason-Dixon Dragway in MD. I weighed 9,980 lbs, and averaged 18.3 MPG. I wish I could find another one of those with a non rusted body. Can't hardly even find a new truck with a full sized bed.
The owner of the NAPA store I worked at used to use these almost exclusively for delivery vehicles in the early 90's. He'd find them from all over the country, in white, and have them shipped to MN. Had a local garage give them the "once over" (tires, brakes, etc), change all the fluids to full synthetic (Amzoil), add the NAPA graphics (including the little hat on the roof!), and then we'd just run the hell outta them. Those 22R engines....They ran forever if you took care of 'em! We had a couple of trucks that had over a half-million miles before we had to get rid of them due to rust...

Yup. Great vehicles.
