Blast from the past..

Boy, y'all are youngins. In 1985 I was a major in the USAF stationed at Little Rock AFB teaching students (2 at a time) how to navigate in C-130s on 10 hour overwater missions. One student was in the seat from Little Rock to Key west via a 5 hour route in the Gulf, and then the other student got in the seat for the trip back. That was before GPS so I had to navigate with celestial and pressure navigation to check their work and instruct them at the same time. That made for a long mission. Then I had to grade all their work and debrief them the next day.
Wow !

Pre GPS knowledge is priceless and old school navigation needs to be ingrained into the minds of our youngsters imo.
