That would be perfect. I have the dimensions of the space it goes in, but there are several critical measurements like size of the wire, number of coils, how the ends are finished, etc., that are important to have to find what spring fits closest. The hope is they used a standard spring size with minimal customization. Also, free length will tell me how compressed the spring is, and if the measured spring diameter is 0.5 or 0.512, that will tell me if it's supposed to self-retain in the hole or if is held in by compression alone.
Let me see what I can do if there is a spring in mine. I am an Industrial maintenance tech and have to order springs quite often. I am with you 100% regarding the dimensions. I can bring it to work, take the spring out and measure everything and put calipers on the spring. Ill post everything so it can be passed along to other members and Dan.
