mean waht can you do wrong with a starter ? Stick it in and tighten the 2 bolts ? Or do i miss something ?
due to production/manufacturing tolerances and different components sometimes the critical engagement points can be off. occasionally they need adjusted, shimmed or otherwise you risk jamming parts together.

busting off a pair of turny bits sounds like ya might have a compatibility or alignment problem. iffin' it's too much with the tightness usually they just won't chooch instead of letting their insides into the outside.
