AFR Heads
In 33 years, I’ve never had any port on any head, no matter who ported it, flow 100+% efficiency D/C(or even right at 100%).
100% for a 1.6 valve at .100 lift is 72.8cfm.
It’s still a red flag to me.
One thing I think a lot of people don’t really grasp is…….
If you flow the same head on 5 different benches, and get 5 sets of varied results …….the head didn’t get better or worse on the different benches.
Whatever/however that head interacts with a given combo of parts…….. it will do it the same way regardless of which flow sheet you tape to the valve cover.
The head itself still “is what it is”.
The simple fact is, different flow benches can give different results.
And sometimes those numbers are beyond what is physically possible.
Not all that long ago I had the chance to flow a head that was supposedly flowing 105% DC @.100 lift.
I told my customer I was sure it wouldn’t do that on my bench.
It didn’t……. It was showing 75.5% on mine.
