Bostonian 71 demon
I thought I was mildly obsessed with this stuff... cool that you found one of those tachs so quickly!
I've had that tach for a long time, it's one of my treasured objects. I've stopped looking for them for a while now but years ago I used to search for vintage gauges all the time and those tachs would rarely if ever come up. The later plastic SW ones with the yellow markings yes, and ones like you showed are somewhat common but definitely not the #424.
I also have an earlier Moroso cable drive tach (I grew up and still live in Stamford, Conn.!) and though it's electric a very early '70's Autometer half-sweep that Dyno Don was hawking back in the day. I have the sending unit/rev limiter thing for it too. Autometer even sent me the original instructions.
Dyno Don, Aggressive Salesman.

Sorry to hijack but it's fun to get into these types of details and you certainly are well versed in this world. A lot of people miss the particulars when they do tribute-type builds or clones or what have you. The small details make or break the whole thing. It's expensive and time consuming to pull it off to the nth degree but it will be worth it in the end.
I'll put this out there now - when yoiu finish this thing you should think about entering it into the MCACN 2026 show in Chicago. It will blow minds.
