Illinois
Ain't seen him in about 6-8 months
He was a winter snowbird for us for a few years, but it's been a few years ago. He stops in once in a while.
In warm months he likes to stop at that place on 24 (not Blondie's the other one haha)
One day I seen his truck there on way home and stopped and had a beer with him...
Have to admit that there's a lot more days I'd have liked to...
Weird thing about that bar
Occasionally she has local bands playing on Friday or Saturday night.
We've been down there for that a handful of times.
The first time I was in there the bartender asked me by name what I was drinking...
I couldn't believe it / I knew the owner Tina and her brother John from grade school/jr high school days. They lived in the same town as I grew up in for a few years, this would have been early 80s... She recognized me before I did her, probably because I wasn't expecting to see someone behind the bar the first time in there, that I hadn't seen in probably 40 years...
I grew up about an hour north of Crescent City in a town called Monee.
Work, and dealing with my brothers (especially Younger one, as I'm the middle of 3) in selling moms house has definitely had me thinking about dropping by there after work and drowning some sorrows on the way home... Problem with that would be that I need to hang on to my CDL haha... (House sold/ closed on today and I also stopped and renewed that CDL both, today so I had to take off..on days I do have to go to work, I'm almost a regular there at the Casey's though.... I don't think there's a day between M-F that I ain't in either that one, the Casey's in watseka or both locations.
I wish they'd sell me a whole potful of their sweet tea at a time.
