Closed dragstrips

 I was an apprentice workin' for Kasler on the 2 freeway in Glendale. Bad forecast one day, lots of rain predicted. All the journeymen went home by choice. Supervisor wanted to keep one loader operator around just in case, the apprentice. I sat on that 930 with no cab wrapped in my slicker all day. Saw the rain pouring all around the jobsite. I never even got a drop on me :BangHead::rofl:
Worked for Andreasen Engineering in Pomona in business from '50's 2010-2014, Pomona/Claremont Colleges and L.A. County Fairgrounds/Fairplex were some of their clients. I could hear drags going from miles away = awesome !

When I bought my place here it was 190 miles one way, could do that going but never back ( 155-178-184/Weedpatch Highway, 58-99-I5-210 to White ) 3 hours exactly door to door @ 3:30 a.m.The work at that point was part to full time, recently divorced and a recent home purchase I did a 7 hour trip to work 4 hours to keep the job rolling and handle it.

At 1 point in those lean times I was working for 3 firms part-time, Pomona, Vanuys, and Bakersfield. The miles and schedule was brutal but managed to pay the bills barely. The stories are plentiful lol.

In the end I got the dream job at Isabella Dam and got my oldest as an Apprentice working with me for 3 years, 1 stop sign 6 minutes, 6 miles from home. Job was fn brutal in many ways but made a real man out of my 26 year old lol.
