Stop in for a cup of coffee
That reel to reel hidin' in there reminds me  Family friends, I was in my early teens, buddy was about 1 1/2 year older than me. I really don't know what Brian's IQ was, but he built a 150W stereo amp in his HS Electronics class as a freshman . His dad was a production manager for Ampex the magnetic tape folks at their nearby facility, so he had connections in the electronics field. The amp was tied to the family stereo which included some speakers that were almost as tall as I was at that time . Right above the amp was a 12" reel to reel that his dad was gifted at work. All the parental units were gone one day, all 3 of the sister units were down the street playing. "I got somthin' you gotta see." Brian says. We go to the living room and he gives me a tour of the stereo system. Starts powering it up, puts a tape on the tape player, adjusts the volume on his amp, and hits the PLAY button. The windows and doors began to rattle to the tune of In a Gada da Vida by Iron Butterfly. About half way through his sister comes through the front door. "HEY! You gotta turn that down! We could hear it at the end of the block! They'e about to call the Cops!". When Brian finished HS, the USAF contacted him and said "We want you at the academy." he went. Half way through his sophomore year there MIT contacted him with a very tempting offer, which he took. USAF was not happy but the $$$ quieted them down. He retired from the electronics industry in his late 20s due to a software invention of his. I should have stayed in touch with him
