Need help I.D.ing this engine

No need to remove alt bracket to see the number in question—it's on a little ledge-extension of the block deck, located below the frontmost spark plug, facing the sky, and just inboard of the alt/coil bracket. Shoot some brake or carb cleaner at that ledge and wipe it and you should find the numbers.

These are the numbers I got off that front pad. I guess I just did not see them. 8 EITHER 2 OR 3,25R 9 21 AGAIN EITHHER 2 OR 3 E. Maybe you guys know what the illegible number are.
