Old wrench guys.. just a quick 340 question.

thanks for the info about powder coating. i use to run a body shop years ago and was the main painter. back then all you had to worry about was lacquer, acrylic enamel and regular enamel. someone tapped the left front fender of my jeep a few months ago and i was b.s.ing with the body shop guy... wow... the processes he was describing to me for paint today made my head spin. and EXPENSIVE... like $3-400.00 just for materials!! i don't know... i used to produce some pretty fine lacquer and enamel jobs back in the day... if you wet sanded them and put on some clear coat they looked great. i'm not convinced that the more expensive conventional paints today are better. but i will admit, i've seen some pretty nice looking stuff that has been "powdered" instead of painted.
and thanks for the other references... i looked at cv plating and white guages... both have really nice stuff.
