TTI Header/Torsion Bar Contact
My TTI's on my 69 Dart with stock torsion bars is actually closer than I like it to be but it isn't rubbing. TTI really needs to go back to the drawing board on the A bodies design and make a little more room in this area as well as the area around the Z bar on the 4 speeds. I contacted them on my setup and they claimed that the car had to have something bent or possibly been in a wreck because everything as they put it should fit without modifications. Well I've owned this car since day one and it has never been wrecked. I had to relocate my Zbar dog leg all the way out to the end of the tube in order to get the clearance I needed to make the clutch work. I called them back about this and they said that on some of the cars this was necessary. This is after they told me that NO mods should be needed. Okay I guess they mispoke! I also had to crimp one tube that passes over the gear box on the back side of the box just so it wouldn't vibrate and rub the steering gear. In my opinion for the money you pay for these headers you shouldn't have to do any serious mods to make them fit properly. My old Hooker headers from 30 years ago actually fit better and also allowed for the big ole factory starter to fit in there where the TTI's required the mini starter. My 2 cents worth.
