Hello,

I have a 67 Dart with an early 360 motor, auto, with no vac brakes.

I would like to keep the stock heads and the bottom end stock but want more of a lumpy cam. I plan to run the Air GAP intake with poss a 770 Holley Street Aven Carb.

Any suggestions? Car is a weekend cruiser only.

Thanks

Your problem is going to compression or lack of.
Most 360 are rated at 8.5-8.2:1 but can be as low as high 7's depending on the Heads combustion chambers.

To give you ideas on cams we need more info. Gears, tire height, headers ?, Converter?

I am going to install the spring relocation kit and hope I can run about a 28" tire. Gearing should be around the mid 3-4. I have had a Dart ealier with 4.11 and it was brutal on the hwy. I am thinking about going to TTI headers and about a 3000 stall conv.

Thanks for the response! The car will not see the strip and is a weekend criuser. I am just looking for a meaner and lumper engine idle. Of course horsepower is always a bonus.

Like I said Compression is going to be the problem.

You wont want to go to big. maybe 230 degress @.050" at the most and that maybe pushing it. The XE268H would probably work good.

Racer Brown SSH 24. Buy your cam from the true Mopar cam company. Talk to the Man who will make your cam. He will go over all your stuff with you. Good price and easy to install as they are set up to just line up the dots. No degreeing!

look at Racer Brown cam specs.

You still need to degree it to make sure the timing chains dots are were they should be. A lot of chains are mis marked.

I looked at the specs for that cam and what struck me was that it appears not to be a dual pattern cam and the statement that the profile can be ground on a mopar, Ford or GM blank. If the profile is generic and can be used with any manufacturers blank then it has to be designed for the lowest common denominator and that would be the GM lifter diameter.

It may be a very good cam but I think I would spend my money on a cam that has a profile that is designed to take advantage of the faster ramp rates that can be used with the larger mopar lifter diameter. Comp, Crane and Hughes all make cams that are specifically designed to take advantage of the mopar lifter. This would especially be benificial on a low compression engine where maximizing the cylinder pressure is important.

Also, not conclusive from the specs but the stock mopar head really likes more duration on the exhaust side than the intake and this cam is listed with only one duration number.
