Use a small 10-24 nut and bolt to connect those and tape it up good. Better than cutting off the factory connecters.
Probably not the amp gauge itself blowing that fuse anyway.

Well, after removing the dash harness and tracing wire anfter wire, my father-in-law and I discovered it wasn't the dash harness after all. It's the harness for the dome light. I thought i had disconnected the body harness when I was troubleshooting. I was surprised when I was slicing away the tape, the wiring is in extremely good shape for 35 years, just man made problems that I've now corrected.
