Gentlemen, Start you engines

O.K. lets say I go with tha 8 3/4. Are chunks for um hard to find? Also, whats it run to rebuild one? I see there's still a difference of opinion in transmissions. From what I understand, the 904 is a lighter duty and lighter in weight tranny. Therefor easier to turn and it reduces around 75 lbs off your car. So why go with a lighter trans if your not really trying to shave weight? Surely the performance loss turning the heavier trans isnt that substantial. We're only talking about a respectable running street car here. If I'm gonna spend tha bucks to git a tranny built, (thinking the cost of building eather one will be about the same + - a few bucks) then its has be whichever one is gonna be tha strongest regaurdless of weight or slight engine performance loss.
I would appreciate if somebody would give me a list of doner cars and years I need to be looking for to convert to disc brakes. I, like most, have been tinkering around with cars pretty much all my life. I had to. Never could afford to put one in tha shop. My problem is that I dont know what all will interchange on um or what combinations work best togather.

Befor I forget ........ I may have found one of the very few places that still has some new glass for older cars. I was told they have the window I need but I dont want to pay new prices for it. ($265) This aint gonna be no trailered show car so used glass will be just fine. I'm going to talk to tha guy Monday and ask him to give me a list of everything he has for Mopars up to about 1975. If anybody is building a Dart show car but still has driver glass in it, I may be able to hook you up. BUT ....... its gonna cost ya a smokin deal on some of your old glass I need for mine. I'll let yall know what I find.

Saw a 70 Swinger up for sale today. Tha guy claims he wants $2500 for it. I looked at that running 83000 original miles car and then thouht about mine. Its gonna cost me MORE than what he wants for that complete running car than what its gonna cost me to barely git started on mine. Sucks to be PO-FOLK!!! From what I've seen people selling parts for on ebay, maybe I aughta part this one out and buy his. (318 with an aluminium intake, 727 with a kit, 8 3/4 rear with traction bars. Been painted but has a few rust spots starting to pop up under tha paint. Interior isnt perfect but driveable. Ugly aluminium wheels. Pretty sure a wadd of hundred dollar bill would bring him down. I'm thinkin $1800-$2000. Problem is ........ I dont have it!!! If anybody is interested in it, I'll go take some pics for ya and git tha guys number.

Thanks everybody.

More later.
