Paint "am i making a big mistake"

I'm a huge fan of candy on customs and street rods but lean toward the traditional when it comes to restos and drivers. All depends on your objective. If its personally pleasing to you go for it. My personal opinion is go original color (or any other available color from the 71 paint chart for that car) base and clear coat and leave off the vinyl top and stipe. Use the time and money you save to do the interior or improve some other aspect of the car. My opinion only, your car your call. BTW: what you see on my avatar is my 69 swinger in R4 which was labeled Swinger Red in the 69 sales brochure but I think its really 68 Charger Red (a good deal of orange involved). I got a 69 paint chip chart off ebay for cheap and had my local NAPA cross reference the numbers. Martin Senour paint, base coat and 3 coats of clear. Painted in a garage.
