April Fools gags

A short story about my favorite April Fools memory.
It all started with a joke someone told me so I'll start with it...
A guy had recieved a long prison sentance and placed in a federal lockup.
Starting in the evening and on into night various voices would shout out numbers from their cell. Like THIRTY-THREE ! and laughter would roll up and down the halls. Then SEVENTY-NINE ! Then FORTY-ONE ! Lots of laughs.
This new guy is thinking WTf ?
Next day they are mingling around the exercise yard and this new guy asks an old timer, "Hey fellow, whats all the number shouting and laughter about ?"
The old guy explains , "Well son we've all been in here so long and heard all the same old jokes sooo many times, we finally just numbered them all.
Easier to shout a number than a whole joke."
So later that night it started again, EIGHTY-TWO ! ahahaha FIFTY-ONE ! hahahaha and the new guy takes his shot, "NINETEEN!" Suddenly the whole place gets deathly quiet. Not one chuckle. The new guy goes to bed , somewhat embarassed and confused.
Next day, back out on the yard, new guy finds the old timer again and says, "Man , I still dont get it. That was me that shouted nineteen last night and no one laughed." Old timer says , "Well son, some people just cant tell a joke."

At the time I was working in a small machine shop. Production was a bit noisey but we could hear one another shout. I told the above joke to everyone during first break. Well... everyone but our quality control guy, Lee, who was on a weeks vacation. From that Wednesday morning through Friday we had fun shouting numbers back and forth across the shop.
Come Monday morning, Lee is back and everything is calm for the first hour or so then it started, FOUR ! hahaha Then EIGHTY-FOUR ! hahaha
Couriosity got Lee. He asks Alan WTF ? and Alan told him the joke.
We all knew what was comming (you probably do too). Less than 10 minutes goes by before Lee shouts, FIFTY-FIVE !
EVERYBODY hit the feed hold buttons on their machines (to create the quiet) and even stepped out to the spare floor where the could look toward Lee like he had lost his mind. Got him good :)
That April Fools day was unforgetable. I tryed to convice Lee that I hadn't planned the whole thing.
It happened several years ago And to this day I can walk in there and someone will shout a number at me...
except for Lee. I just get a smile and a middle finger salute from him. :)
