Hey guys, I'm about to start my job soon (Yeah!:supz:) and the first thing I want to get once I get paid is a suspension rebuild kit and front sway bar kit for my '70 318 Duster. I'm wondering, will the car be any less comfortable if I go with polygraphite bushings and install a sway bar? Also, what size front sway bar should I go with?

A front sway bar was the best upgrade I ever did to my 73 Scamp by far! I would just go with a all rubber bushing kit unless your into that embaressing squeeking sound that polly bushings make everytime the suspension moves.

What he said! I went with the ACO-150 bar in the front of my 71 dart and it made a big difference in the way it handled. I should have gone for the rubber bushings in my rear leafs cause those f'ers are noisy!!

Even the graphite-impregnated ones are noisy too? And is the ride still just as smooth as without a sway bar?

I don't know about the graphite ones. The sway bar doesn't really have much to do with the feeling while driving it gets rid of body roll/lean when going around cornners.

Oh okay, good. And about the bushings, looking around there are companies that sell straight polyurethane ones but there are some (Performance Suspension Technology, maybe others) that sell special graphite-impregnated self-lubricating poly bushings.

put the suspension together with anti sieze compound,it will eliminate the squeaks forever,do not use grease on the rubber bushings or the poly ones(the grease will soften the rubber and ruin them)its an old trick I use on my stock cars, works well with the rubber bushings or the poly bushings, good luck!

I used the PST master kit with poly-graphite and their 1 1/8" sway bar, also used Firm Feels 1" torsion bars and the ride is awesome- no squeeks. I thought it might be a little on the stiff side but it drives like a dream!
