i have a 73 Dart Sport and i REALLY want to do a Demon conversion. can i take the front end off a 71 72 Dart/Swinger or Valiant and put it on my car. or do i NEED Demon parts. im also noticing my fenders dont have the contours by the hood and grill like the Demon does. do they sell pieces for that and the valance for the chin spoiler someplace?? do i need all new fenders? they dont look the same. i need the hood, grill, bumper, valance and fender pieces. unless there a part of the fender? please let me know

If you can find the dart parts.I did the same swap on a 73 duster a few years ago,and later swapped the tail panel for a demon piece i lucked up on.Now i have a 71 swinger i bought without a front clip, and cant find one close to me,not a complete on anyways, lol

why wouldn't demon fenders be the same as dart fenders?

all you need are dart fenders they are exactly the same as demon fenders any thing from 70-72 will fit you cant use the valiant front end though if your going for a demon clone the valiant front clip is the same as a duster so it wont work for you so you would need to find a complete 70-72 dart or demon front clip and the rear tail light panel if you want to go all the way lastly with your 73 the side marker lights will be different on the 70-71 front clip the 72 fender would have the same marker as your 73 but the 72 fenders can be hard to find cause they are a one year only fender i sure hope that is clear and im not confusing you sorry if so Good Luck Justin

has to be dart or demon front clip,I have 2 feders 1 hood and a front bumper,no brackets no grill no rust but none of the parts are perfect 200$ plus shipping.these parts are decent just not high dollar

You can do it.
I used a mixture of 70 Dart and 71 and 72 Demon front end parts on my 74 Duster.

You can do it. My brother and I put a 72 Demon front end on to his 75 Duster. We had a complet 72 Demon front end though. You will need fenders, and the fender extensions, hood, grill, bumper, and valance. a 71 Demon is the same as a 72 just the grill is a little diferent. A 70-71 dart is just like a 71 Demon. All the 108 wheelbase cars from the 70 duster on, Including Demon and Dart sport are the same car. Mopar just changed the sheet matal a little and swapped grills and bumpers around a little over the years. Even the 111 wheelbase cars shared sheet metal with the 108.

Hope this helps you out a little.

a 71 Demon is the same as a 72 just the grill is a little diferent.

Marker lights are different. 70-71 share the recessed lights like on Yuri's fenders. 72 is a one year only fender with the bicycle reflector style markers.

As long as you use the ENTIRE front clip from whatever model you want, you'll be OK.

Yes that is true. But like Yuri it is ok to mix and match. You could change over as well If you dont mind a little metal work. It is geting hard to find this stuff out there so some times you got to use what you can find, and what is in the budget.

I installed a '72 Demon front clip on my '73 Scamp. Now I guess you can say by looking at the car I have a '72 Dart. I know, its still a Scamp, but looks much cooler IMO. Only due to an accident, other wise I would still have factory front end assembly.

the front end on the Dart Sport has a different grill and hood and the Demon fenders and 70 71 dart swinger /valiant had hoods that curve down and mine doesnt do that. plus its got a small bumper and valance. mine however has a huge bumper car bumper

i knew that about the 73-up fenders. i was questioning 70-72 dart fenders should be the same for 71-72 demons.

Hi,

I'm new here so forgive me on the lack of A-body background (I am more of a C-body fan, I have a '69 T&C and a '69 300 convertible). Anyway, I bought my daughter a '75 Swinger that we are trying to fix up. I would like to do the same conversion that I was reading about here but got confused! I looked through lots of photos of the front fenders of these cars and realize that there are two types of fenders. Those short fenders with the extensions, and the full fenders that go all the way to the headlights. I thought that this was due to the year, but then I saw a '71 Plymouth with what looked like the same fender of the '75 Dart Swinger?

So, I need to get this straight, do I need to replace the fenders if I were to put a 71 or '72 Plymouth hood, bumper, valance, and grill on?

Thanks

thats the same dang question i had. cus the dusters and Dart Sport had the trim piece in front of the hood. and the demon fenders are the 2 piece. there also different for the bumper too.

Okay, here is a link to a members Duster photo. It is a 72 Duster with a flat bumper, but the fender looks like a one piece fender?

Aren't the wheel well lips differant between the Darts and the Demons?... like the differance between the Dusters and the Valiants? where they flair out more on the Dusters/ Demons vers the more "flush" edge of the Darts/Valiants?

Think of the car as two halves. The front clip for 70-72 Dart/Demons is the same. The back clip is the same for 70-76 Dusters, 71-72 Demons, 73-up Dart Sports. (as far as wheel openings)

So let me get this straight?- you want to put a 71-71 Duster front end on you 75 Swinger- right? You have to change everything the fenders aren't the same they might look similar at the front edge but they're not the same. A simple tell is the wheel opening- look closely at a Duster wheel opening and then study your swinger- the shape, and how the body line contours over the opening it will become extremely obvious how different they are.

That's what I was getting at. I wasn't sure if it was the same for the Dodge's though.
Thank you mrspeeddemon

If you visually strip the 70& up Dart/Demon/Dusters/Scamps/Valiants to the bare unibody up front, they are the same (with the exception of some mounting holes).

Regardless of whether they were 108" or 111" platforms, they shared a common cowl, and front unibody.

In 70, Dodge had the restyled Dart. Plymouth maintained their Valiant, and introduced the Duster. It was different from cowl back. The front clip was same as Valiant.

In 71, Dodge cried and got the Duster backhalf, and used the Dart front clip - Demon. Plymouth wanted their cake and got the Dart backhalf and used the Valiant front (Scamp).

73 and up Dart/Duster/Valiant/Scamps fronts are interchangeable as a unit since they have different designs to accomodate the legislated crash bumpers.

The key thing is that for both hardtop and fastback models, the lines at the cowl and on doors is the same, so they are easily changed.
