What I am suggesting for now:

1.Install electronic ign,
2.Good set of wires, MSD Blaster coil #8203.
3.Add a 2.25" single exhaust.
4. Free flowing air-cleaner.

Leave everything else as is for now. With the addition of the new exhaust and air-cleaner you might feel a slight bog on take off. If this is the case, go 2 sizes bigger on the main jet.

"IMPORTANT" "Always do one change at a time".
If something isnt right, you know where to look.

Going to a 2bbl or 4bbl will take some fabricating and additional parts. If you want to go this route, collect the necessary parts first, then go for it.
With the set-up above you will be able to drive the car now, with some additional performance.
