The location will depend on how your manual trans fits first, then you can make adjustments as necessary with the shifter hooked up.
I kept telling my buddy that I did not want him to tack the four speed up on my car until the 4 spd was fitted first because i had already fit it at my garage and it did not perfectly match the body lines as i thought it would.
He ended up tacking it anyways and sealing it off, then once the trans was fit, second gear was digging into the sheet metal on the hump, so the hole had to be modified, and i got to use those famous words..."Told ya."
I bought my hump from sherman auto parts, and they had a pattern to lay down and go by with instructions where to cut.
