Adding a flip top gas cap to a early a body
Thanks for the left side pics, DartCuda. That looks like the '67-'68 Barracuda & '68 Challenger cap Which IS being repopped by the same folks who I got the Rallye wheel centers from out of Canada (Eh?) They also have the flip-top caps and trim rings with the word "fuel" in front and rear opening styles. I was thinking that I had seen an article about moving the filler up and putting it on top of the fender, but don't remember if that one used a flip-top cap. Seems like that would be a natural! More work than dantcuda's, 'cause you'd have to close up the original hole, but the cutting and fitting would be about the same - just have to stretch the filler tube inside a bit and make it point up. Might need to rework the tank vent, too. I was hoping it would be simpler, 'cause I've never done bodywork and the ragtop's paint is pretty OK. But there's that '63 Dart Coupe that I plan for my next project that's gonna need paint anyway so maybe I'll do the filler cap thing on IT first, then do the ragtop .
