The schumacer mounts is the best way to go.

Your correct that the 727 is longer. I'd try to find a short tail shaft for it. The 904s are good transmissions for small blocks the the /6 and smallblocks use a differant bolt patern.

Id look for a 8-3/4 or even a 8-1/4 rear instead of the over kill 9-1/4
