So when i got up this morning i decided i was gonna go out side to adjust my valves, only, i dont know what my clearance should be??
I dont have a shop book or any info on the car at all!!

Theres an aftermarket cam in the ol' 318 but i'm not sure what it is (the downside of buying a modded car from a "dumb" kid)......

would that change my clearance spec's at all??
I tryed to look it up :read2:, but no luck...

Thanks!!

have you been in it before?
what im getting at is, does it have adjustable rockers?
maybe its an aftermarket hydraulic cam with stock rockers, and no adjustment needed?

Never popped the cover's off before...

I just figured it was about time, i'm sick of all that oil building up on the side of my block...

I'll pop it off and let you guys know.... Oh, how can i tell if it's hyd. or not lol??

A good indicator would be non adjustable rocker arms. They didn't use those with solid lifter cams.

Nevermind, it is in fact a hydraulic setup......

Sweet, now i dont have to mess with it......
It did give me the opp. to repaint my valve covers though :-D

Thanks for you help....

Well at first i wanted to replace my gasket's because like you said, they were leaky...
Then i thought i might as well adjust my valves since i'm gonna have the covers off anyway...

So now i guess i dont have to mess with valve adjustments; but now i have to figure out why i'm leaking more oil than before ](*,) ......

Dont you just love a good can of worms??!!

Wheres the leak coming from? Can you see where it's running out at? Drivers side or pass. side? Front or back? High or low. Been down this road and it aint fun. Let us know.

Did you check the edges on the covers to make sure they are flat? They will pull up and even split if overtightened. If you used cork are they split when you took them back off?

It was coming from the drivers side toward the firewall and of all places to drip, the oil was dripping all over my headers....

It was very embaressing, people were looking at me as if i was driving a piece of crap, i didn't realize how much smoke there was untill i stoped at a light!!
I fixed it though, when i put the cover back on the head the far end of the gasket got caught on something and it kinda folded it back so the very tip wasn't sealed at all, Thank god i bought rubber gaskets, lol....

Thanks for all the advice everyone!!!
