2.45s 8 1/4 swap..

Hey Jeff,
I haven't seen you around here much lately. What you have to change can be seen and done when you take the inspection plate off. It is called the carrier. You have to take the center pin out of the carrier. It is usually held in with a setscrew or pin and then with some minor persuasion will just drop right out. the next thing to do is push the axels in from the wheel end and remove the c-clips. This will allow you to pull the axels back out and away from the carrier. The carrier is held in by 2 bearing caps. One on each side. Take these caps off and the carrier will come out with a little help. The only thing after that is to take out the pinion by removing the pinion nut and pushing it or pulling it out.
Reassembly is just the opposite but make sure you know the tolerances and torques.
