engine noise

I've read some of the thread, not all of it.
Just a quick question, are you running a mechanical or electric fuel pump?
Mechanical pumps, once worn, do sound like a lifter noise then gradually sounds like a rod bearing as it wears.
Possibly another thing for you to look at.
