Has anyone done this swap yet? I would love to do this since TTI is making an engine mount kit plus headers for are a-bodies.
i will be using a 904 tranny or an overdrive tranny. im just trying to figure out if i need to add a vehicle speed sensor, i will be using a pullout motor instead of the crate motor.

Before it is dropped in i will also be adding a crane cam, and some other small mods, hoping for around 500hp.

any info would be great
thanks
steve

If I was you,I would get the tranny that is with the engine and the complete wiring harness and PCM,TCM and any other computors to make sure you have all the vital components, and find out how compatable the computors are for cam changes,Mrmopartech

We just got the 5.7 Hemi Crate and it comes with the PCM/ECU and all necessary wire hookups. For ours we are also getting Schumacher Specialties motor mounts and TTI exhaust headers (the ones seen in the latest issue of Hot Rod). The PCM/ECU on the crate still has the rev limited to 5700 RPM, it also is timed for premium fuel (93 octane).

sorry but i really don't want a merc. trans in my car, way to big and no aftermarket backup. i can bolt the hemi to my 904, thats no changing anything from trans back!

new guy here. i want to do this swap on my 64 dart gt convertible as well. iv read that the 5.7 will bolt up to small block trannies. ive seen the crate engines, but there has to be a way to yank a 5.7 out of a ram or magum and put it in my 64. better yet wait awhile for the 6.1 to get into the trucks and wait for one to pop up on ebay a few years from now. i have alot of other things i have to do first to the 64 before im even ready for an engine, but my dream is to modernize it with the fuel injected 5.7 or 6.1.

There is talk that with the 6.1 you need to replace the K-member with something stronger. The 5.7 doesn't have this issue. Also aren't the 6.1 still having reliability problems? I'd rather trick out a 5.7 then chance it with a 6.1.

I'm putting the FI crate Hemi into my 67 Barracuda. A 727 or 904 will fit BUT you need to cut the ring gear off of the flexplate and then bolt it onto your TC. I've ordered the TTI headers/mounts and the mounts will ready in a few weeks. You'll need a center sump pan, that can be found at http://www.hotrodlane.cc/ , they also have several projects where they used takeout motors, I'd be spending a lot of time on that website. I agree with the other guy though about if you're using a takeout then grab the tranny and all it's other stuff. At least with the crate hemi the electronics are self contained.

Duspinnst, can we bring the 5.7 hemi swap stuff to this thread, I can't find the other one we started on?

another note, is there an easy way to fnd that thread?

Ue the search function at the top of the page. Put in 5.7 hemi and choose titles. It will come up. After you find it again look for the thread tools and hit subscribe to this thread. After that you can always find it under user cp at the top of the page. choose subscriptions and it will list all the threads you are following

Actually after I posted that I found the search function, searched on myself and found what I was looking for. thanks for the tip though, appreciate it..

wow great links. looks like that blue barracuda had IFS. is that right? im taking notes :p .

that 5.7 looks like it belongs in an A body engine compartment!
anyone having any link to some site where i can see those headers for it? looked att TTIs site and didnt find it:(

problems with the 6.1? i havent heard. theyll fix it im sure. i wont be ready for any drivetrain item for a few years, which gives the after market guys plenty of time to come up with goodies for the hemi.
has anyone seen any track times for an old car with the new hemi in it? i was thinking that if a 4160lb 300c can get 14s with the 5.7 and 13s with the 6.1 a lil 64 dart like mine should at least drop a second off those times....maybe?
what rearend would you guys recommend. ive read the 8 3/4 is good for 450 horsies, and that anything greater is in need of the dana. any truth to this? thanks

I haven't seen any track times, but nearly 400 hp in a 3200 lb body should be plenty fun (mine is a cruiser only). I'm using an 8 3/4, should be fine esp. with an automatic, a manual may need a beefed up 8 3/4, and stepping up to a Dana would add a ton of weight (for a street car). Slicks, steep gears, and an effective drag chassis may need a Dana. I haven't found any websites for the TTI/5.7 Hemi, had friends check it out at the Spring Fling and there were a couple issues with motor placement.

I need to call TTI in the morning, I've sent them money for my stuff and it would have been nice if they called me and told me, when I placed my order last week I was told it was 3 weeks out, 6 or more becomes a customer relationship issue, not to mention a pita schedule wise.

itd be nice to have the old push button tranny hooked up to the 5.7 (id have to find a tranny with the v8 bellhousing), but a more modern day tranny with cruise control would be nice as well.
i want my car to be a cruiser also, but when its all done (years down the road), i want to take it to the track and see what she gets in the 1/4 mile.
i checked out that street performer website. i have a question regarding the motor mount plates. my car is a /6 now. im getting (with my car) the v8 motor mount adaptors. will those plates mount to the motor mounts and then to the /6s k-frame or will i need to do something else?
