New Project /6 4-speed :)

I put a long tail shaft A833OD behind a \6 that I had built up some. The gear spacing was not an issue going down the road. Certainly was not ideal for max acceleration but it worked good. I initially had 3.23 gears then when I swapped in the 8.25 rear end I rebuilt it with 3.55 gears.

The A833OD trannies have a larger input bearing retainer, if you can get the \6 A833OD bell housing grab it and you will need the clutch fork too. The vans and pick-ups used a ball pivot for the clutch fork that screwed into the bell housing so the car bracket won't work. The fork will be longer than the car fork but it will work. Otherwise you will be looking for parts and swaping or machining parts to get the bell housing to mate to the tranny.

Go to bigblockdart.com and they have a sketch of the bracket you will need to make for the shifter so it comes through the floor in the correct postion.

You will also need the slip yoke for the tranny. The A833OD will have one that is the same size as the 727. I got my drive shaft shortened at the local drivetrain shop they also had the correct slip yokes in stock.
