I've recently installed a Proform main body for my Holley 650 double pumper carb. It is now whistling at about 1,000 rpm. As soon as I touch the gas pedal it goes away. I had previously drilled the throttle blades with a .125" drill bit when I was using the stock main body, and have not changed anything and am still using this throttle base. Is this causing my whistle? As well I've noticed that I have no vacum on the metering block port for my vacum advance on my distributor. Does anyone have any experience with this Proform main carb body, and can offer any help?

I've always found that when my carb is whisteling, there's a vacuum leak somewhere.

Call Proform techline...Oh, they don't have one?...geee whiz....
Call Holley.....they won't talk to you because it's not their parts?

Geeze so you bought a Chinese main body with no tech support and now you have problems, sorry but I hear this 20 times a week.

I'm not flaming you at all, I'm Flaming Profrom, I'm so sick of seeing that stuff and everyone has issues.

Decent Holley Carb $500
Profrom main body...$100
Proform Base plate $150.00
Metering blocks $160.00

So now you've got a $900.00 carb with Holley float bowls and no warranty, no tech support and issues...isn't that priceless

Why not just buy the CORRECT carb for the application like a Mighty Demon for a misurable $499.00? I just don't get it.......sorry

I know exactly what's wrong with them, how to half azz fix them and how to tune them as close as possible to make them run at least but, I'll never lower myself to working on that stuff:
#1 It's a plagerized Pizz poorly copied POS
#2 No Factory support
#3 Imported from China
#4 False and misleading advertising
#5 It's purple and there's just something wrong with a Barney Purple carb

So here's to you Proform...where's the driving finger Icon?

The vacuum port is probably timed (only has vacuum when the throttle blades are open). As for the whistle... I suppose there are as many ideas about that as there are people that will talk about it. I also have a proform main body and I thought it was a pretty nice piece. It has great throttle response, starts good, runs good - I have no complaints.

My proform body has been great. great fix for a old warped holley main body. If you already have a Holley carb around you can build a Proform carb for just over $300.

Also your 650 double pumper now flows about 830cfms.
