cam question

I think very much we have very similar builds you and I MOPARJ.

Indeed a higher stall, not much, would be good. That tranny I have is a lock up '79 model. 3.91 would get this pup moven well. My finish line RPM was never exactly noted, but IIRC, somewhere around 5000, give or take.
Not to mention a bit more compresion. That '79, 318 of mine is dead on it's heels with probably less than 8.0-1 though advertised at 8-1 when new.

I ran @ ATCO on the MoPar meet day a 15.14 @ 89 without a tuned distrib or carb. When I tune those up/dail those in better on a slightly warmer day, it'll run the 14's.

Yeah, I have a 73 model with 8:5 advertised. I believe TRW cast replacements with moly rings were used on the rebuild. I think I would feel a difference with a 2000 stall. I am running the lower performance square bodied Holley 600 single feed with manual choke. I have not messed with the jets and it may be a smiggin' lean, but it burns clean and gets good milage. I am runnin 3.21s in a peg leg 8 1/4. Mainly want to change the tc to help out the mid range acceleration, especially through second gear. From a standstill start, it pulls hard through first up to 5,500. A bit better acceleration at hwy speed would be great too to inorder to make up for the slight loss of low end torque.
